I woke up this morning and thought about running, but I decided that two days in a row for my first week back is a good reason for a day off. I knew that I was going to be mowing the lawn later on so I didn't feel too guilty.
But I didn't spend the whole morning being lazy or anything. I was entertaining Hallie, picking up the house, washing dishes, doing laundry, and figuring out the budget. I know that it doesn't sound like much, but trust me, with a four month old it is. lol. And can I just tell you how much I HATE money right now. I don't know how we're going to survive, but I've gotta find a way to bring in more money or else yours truly will be living in a cardboard box on the streets by Christmas. ugh.
After crunching the numbers and racking my brain trying to figure out the next step and wanting to strangle a certain someone it was time to mow the lawn. And I was so Glad! Because all I wanted to do was go for a good run and pound the cement. But instead I got the chance to shove the mower around and mulch up the yard. :]
But when I went to leave I remembered that Josh took my car today. He has driven his all week, but the one day I actually need it he took it. Of course. lol. So, I packed up the stroller and we got started for Grandma's house. As we walked I decided to try and sing primary songs and nursery rhymes to Hallie to stimulate her mind since I had both hoods up completely blocking her view of anything while trying to attempt to block out the scorching 1:00pm Utah sun. But I was struggling to remember the words to most of them so I resorted to naming shapes, listing the colors, and then finally counting.... with every step. Up to one hundred. And then again up to one hundred. Which got me wondering how many steps are between her house and mine? Which made me realize that I probably don't get my 10,000 steps in every day. Bummer. But I'm pretty sure she lives a quarter of a mile from my house. So, I'm probably not burning very many calories, but it's better than nothing. One of these days I'll have to test it.
But I got there and got started right away. I was worried that I was going to be bored because I forgot to pack my ipod. But I wasn't. The time actually passed by surprisingly fast. I can't quite remember what I was thinking of while I mowed though... probably just about the lines and how I somehow manage to never get them straight. hahaha. But mowing the lawn did just the trick! I was much more relaxed after I was done. My hands are pretty blistered and sore, but at least I'm not as stressed. Next time I mow angrily I'll be sure to wear gloves. lol. But anyways, here are my results from mowing:

Run with Hallie
While Josh was off hunting I was able to get Hallie and I on a sleeping schedule. YaY!!! We were going to bed between 9:30 and 11:00 PM and waking up between 5:30 and 8:30 AM. It was awesome. But then Josh got home. We started to get off of it a little. But I decided I couldn't let that happen. So, we are back on the schedule, and we're getting him on it too.
This morning I was awake at 7am, but I needed to pump and was really uncomfortable so I layed in bed and waited for Hallie to wake up. But she didn't. So around 8am I went in and woke her up. Mean huh? jk. No, it helps to keep her on a good schedule. While I was burping her I snacked on some
But while I was sitting there I remembered the race I won. And then I ate a few more Swedish Fish. And how I promised myself that I would start training and conditioning for it. And I ate a few more Swedish Fish. And it's too late to run because it will be hot too now. A few more Swedish Fish. But it looks like there's a lot of cloud cover. A few more Swedish Fish. But the sun is still out and it will be too uncomfortable for Hallie. More Swedish Fish. But if I don't do it now then I won't do it at all. A few more Swedish Fish. I'll just start it tomorrow. And I ate a few more Swedish Fish. I'll make sure to wake up super early and do it with Hallie. And I ate some more Swedish Fish. It really can't be that bad out there. And then I ate some more Swedish Fish. Oh just get off your fat butt and burn off those stupid Swedish Fish before it gets too hot!!! So I did.
It felt so good to be running again! I am so glad that I was able to convince myself to get off the couch and start the day off right. Plus, it calmed Hallie down. She had been crying ever since I fed her, but she didn't fuss at all on the run. Another good reason for me to run. Dangit. lol. I was only going to run around the block (which is 3 miles), but I decided that since the weather was so nice I had better just go for it and do the big block which wasn't very much farther (only 3.74 miles). And here are my stats:
Run with Hallie in Jogging Stroller
iMapMyRun
Miles: 3.74
Time: 40:33
Avg Pace: 10.85 m/mi
Avg Speed: 5.53 mi/h

Timex HR Monitor/Watch
Time: 38:23
In Zone: 38:23
Avg BPM: 187
Peak BPM: 205
Cals: 782
I am not sure which one is more accurate on the calorie burn, but I sure hope it's my watch! My goal is to run five times a week until the race. But if not, then at least three times a week.

Not to mention, my tummy was extremely upset after Saturday and Sunday's nut binges. I don't know why, but for some reason I never feel good after them and I have to use the toilet a lot. And it's weird because Hallie is always a lot more fussy, gassy, and upset the day after as well. So I think I might need to avoid nuts for a while. Sad day.

Ok, I did something else that I need to add in here..
I went and played soccer with Josh and his team tonight. I don't think I ran or played as much, but it was still a great workout! And it was so much fun in the meantime! I was able to find a way to sneak my HR Monitor onto the field tonight, so here are the results:

The game is only 40 minutes long, but I forgot to turn it off when it was over, and so it has a few extra minutes and calories. And the HR will be off a little too. I'll try and redo it next week. But if I could play a sport every day to get my exercise in I would be one HAPPY girl!

Guess what??!!?
I won a free entry into the Fire Station Run Half Marathon on September 22, 2012. All thanks to my sister and The Utah Running Guide: Free Race Giveaways. I never win anything. But I did! ..and now I need to train... uh oh! But this is great because I needed something to kick my butt into gear and get me running again.
But now it has me interested in a couple of other runs...
Looks kinda fun, huh?! But it's on September 22nd as well.So I can't do it. Dangit. I'll have to do it next year.
and the biggest problem I have with it is the attitude most of the runners have against the church. I want to be a part of the Guinness World Record. But I don't want to be a part of something that is going to mock the church. Don't get me wrong... I'm all for equality and free agency, but I can't support something that's going to make fun of my religion or beliefs. It should be political and not prejudiced against the LDS Church. I think it'd be way fun to run in my undies. I am all up for that kind of fun. Heck that's what most runners practically wear anyway. I even went running in my sports bra and shorts in Cali on my honeymoon because it was on my bucket list and I luvd it.
So, right now my heart is telling me that I shouldn't do the run. Dangit. But I know that I will be blessed for my decision. Maybe they will change the reason for the run and then I can join in. When they decide to run just for Equal Rights and an opportunity to make a world record without it being an anti-Mormon thing then I'll do it. Until then I'll keep runnin' the way I do.
I. won. I. won. IwonIwonIwon!!! (and yes, I did a little jig as I sang this)

I haven't been able to exercise much lately because life has been a little hectic. We've had a lot of errands to run, family come in, and chores to do. Plus, Hallie and Josh have been keeping me really busy. Josh has been making his usual messes and Hallie's belly has been super upset. But I was able to sneak in a workout today. Here it is:
Supreme 90 Day System - Back & Bi's
Timer: 59:35
In Zone: 59:35
AvgBPM: 138
PeakBPM: 172
Calories: 731
This DVD is more weight-training than anything else. I love lifting weights because I feel like your body holds onto it a lot longer than a cardio workout. He doesn't keep your HR up sky high because it's not focused on cardio, but the burn lasts a long time after.
I like this series of workout DVD's. But I'm not a fan of his warm-up and cool-down. Well, I like the stretches that he does. But I don't like the fact that he uses the same routine on every disc. I wish he would focus the cool-down on the muscle groups you used during the workout. I think that during your cool-down you should stretch every muscle, but should put an extra emphasis on the muscle group that you used most. But other than that I enjoy them.
Sorry that I don't have much to say because I actually do, I just don't have the time right now to write it down. So, that's all I have to say today. Have a good one!

Ok, so I know that I've done the Cardio Abs before, but I thought this one was different because the one I did before was on a disc all by itself. But this one was on the same disc as the Pure Cardio. But I am glad my mom has two separate versions because this one stopped working with 6:21 minutes left on the clock. I tried everything to fix it, but no matter what I did it wouldn't start working for me again. I was extremely bummed.

I was pretty motivated today...Thanks in part to my recent pinterest activity. lol.

Jillean Michaels - Biggest Winner -

Second:
I decided I wanted to try and make these cute workout tanks I found on Pinterest (http://pinterest.com/pin/50032245830985948/) and here is the actual link...(http://dollarssenseandmore.wordpress.com/2012/03/16/diy-tank-top-fashion-on-a-budget/).
I had two old t-shirts that I haven't worn in a looong time cuz they're not my favorites anymore, and so I decided to do a little revamping on them...
t-shirt from my sophmore year. |
the rough lettering looks awesome with the cut-up style now. |
I think the back bulges more than I'd like though... |
Ilikehow it shows off your scapula. :] |
and the LimeGreen senior shirt from high school. FUN COLOR! |
Overall, I lUV the results! Two shirts that I liked I now love for exercising. So glad I pinned that DIY now. Go ahead and try it for yourself. Trust me, exercising is a lot more fun when you can move your arms and when you look good doing it.
Third:
I tried another thing I pinned... it was a DIY teeth whitening. (http://pinterest.com/pin/50032245830984389/) but I didn't see any difference in my smile. Oh well, at least I tried. Plus, I think you're supposed to do it once a week for a while for it to do anything. But I'm not that good at remembering or finding time for things like that right now so we'll see how that goes.
Fourth:
I tried another DIY project for washing all of my makeup brushes. It took forever because there was so much makeup stuck in my brushes. So I just washed them over and over and over again with baby shampoo. I definitely need to clean them more often. Maybe this will help keep my face more zitless. CrossYourFingers!
Fifth:
I made a home-cooked meal! I bbq'd up some chicken wings with lemon pepper. Boiled some corn on the cob from our garden. And I wanted to try some potato recipes off of pinterest, but I didn't have the right ingredients. So instead I used their cooking techniques and temperatures and made up my own concotion. Which Josh loved! HooraY! Oh and did I mention that the potatoes were even from our garden! YaY for being domestic today!
The potatoes were a mixture of olive oil, parmesan cheese, garlic salt, pepper, and parsley. I also had some surprise dinner guests. Josh's parents came over to see Hallie. If I had known I would be feeding extra mouths I would have followed a recipe and made more meat. Oh well. At least they said it tasted very good. Hopefully they weren't just being polite. And then after we gobbled up dinner and they went home I made a second batch so that we'd have a meal for tomorrow, and then I had to do all of the dishes. And it would have been a lot easier if I would have had some help with Hallie. Oh well. At least I was a domestic diva for a day!
